SZA was just honored with the FIRST ever “She is The Music” award at the 14th annual Songs of Hope gala! SZA was recognized for her influence on women in music, song writting, and her impact on culture. Jody Gerson, CEO and UMPG Global Chairman, presented her with the award. SZA wrote all the songs on CTRL, so it’s amazing that she is getting recognized for her pen game. She is a lyrical genius! I’m incredibly proud of her.
During her speech she talked about how she never knew her experiences in life would resonate with so many people through her music. Likewise, she was proud that her music is able to reach and touch people in the way that it does. She also said it was an honor to be recognized by City of Hope.
